Story

Lorraine is running The London Marathon on 23rd April 2017 to raise money for the Community Brain Injury Service in Poole. She holds this service very close to her heart as they have provided life changing rehabilitation to her daughter. Her daughter Jennifer was diagnosed in August 2014 with Autoimmune Limbic Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis. Encephalitis is inflammation of the brain. Encephalitis occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the brain. Jennifer was left with an acquired brain injury and struggles to do anything for herself or remember anything. Since having rehabilitation with the Brain Injury Service Jennifer is slowly returning to her pre-Encephalitis self. She still needs weekly rehabilitation from them and her recovery has been more positive with them involved. Lorraine wants to raise money for them as they are a small service and don't get a lot of funds to help people with brain injuries. This money will go towards their allotment, helping them to buy tools and equipment for it. They use the allotment as a therapy for brain injury survivors which has had positive success. The money will also go towards creating new groups that will help other people as well as Jennifer towards their rehabilitation and recovery.

We are now over a quarter of the way to reaching our target! £1000 will help this service incredible amounts! Remember a brain injury doesn't discriminate, it can happen to ANYONE at ANYTIME!! I really hope you or your loved ones never have to use this service but there are so many survivors out there who do need this service to help change their lives! The community Brain Injury Service doesn't just help brain injury survivors, it also helps the whole family and any careers and even friends. thank you so to everyone who has donated!!
