2020 was an awful year for dog rescues across the country. With the world going in and out of lockdown, this left dogs being adopted and taken back to the kennels within months. After seeing it myself first hand whilst working at Coningsby Rescue in Lincolnshire, I know how much pressure it puts on them to find the time and funds to look after these dogs.

Jan and Rob run Coningsby Rescue completely on their own and use donations from their charity shop in the town to help them. Without the generous volunteers and donations people give this wouldn’t be possible. With a third lockdown in order and new government guidelines this makes it really difficult for them to run the kennels how they would like to. Charity shops are classed as non essential and there have been times where Jan and Rob have not been allowed to have volunteers in because of COVID cases so have had to do everything on their own whilst ill which is VERY time consuming. Not only do they have up to 13 dogs in the top kennels that are ready for adoption but they also have horses and care for dogs behind the scenes who are sadly not ready.

They are both amazing at what they do and have always made me feel so welcome when coming in to walk and feed the dogs. I’ve started this fundraiser so that I can help in a socially distanced manner by using the funds to go out and buy them the food and essentials they need to drop off at the gate so this saves them time in the day.
