Story

The Cops for Ukraine Just Giving page has been created by Jim Clark & Rob Stordy, two UK based Police Officers.

Cops For Ukraine Phase 2.

With a very successful trip last November its time to reboot, take stock (those itchy feet really are starting to annoy) and time to plan again for the next phase.

For a recap of the Op Avail 2023 trip please scroll down.

The trip was so inspirational the team, Jim, Rob and Gary, have decided that we will not only be focusing on not just the Ukrainian police but also looking to support a local children’s centre and local communities in Dnipro, these areas have been influenced negatively by the war. Clearly the social situation isn’t improving and as the war rages on we must support these communities as much as we can.

Here is the big ask, for the communities we are looking to continue to raise funds for another minibus, IT equipment, generators and essentials to support victims of domestic violence. Wanting to create a legacy we would like to help the younger elements of the communities focus on their own futures some of the items we would like to purchase are educational aids, books, access to the internet and giving them the hope for a brighter future.

For the police, essential first aid equipment, stretchers, suitable winter clothing and two 4x4 vehicles or vans to support the delivery of equipment and officer rotation back and forth from those areas that are still being targeted and still need policing.

If you can assist with any form or donation, be it physical, financially or have a fabulous fund raising idea then we would love to hear from you.

As we have stated from the start we remain in close contact with our Ukrainian friends and colleagues who remain eternally grateful for your support.

As the project continues we will keep you updated and you can always follow us on our Social Media platforms, Facebook and Instagram or email us copsforukraine@gmail.com to speak to us.

Thank you

Jim, Rob and Gary.

We have some rather cool Velcro backed patches for sale.

Op Avail 2023

Earlier this month large quantities of Cops4Ukraine aid successfully reached several Police Stations in the East of Ukraine

The consignments of aid included 100 Individual Trauma First Aid Kits (IFAKS), large boxes of assorted trauma medical supplies, Sanitary Products, Gloves, Socks, Boots, large quantities of winter thermals, winter jackets, winter trousers, ballistic vests, and ballistic helmets. A car and minibus for use by the police officers moving too and from the frontline were also donated. These consignments have been received by very appreciative officers at four police stations spread across the Sumy, Poltava and Dnipro regions of Ukraine.

We remain in close communication with our contacts in Ukraine and know they are facing a terribly difficult winter, so we were extremely pleased to get these consignments of aid out to our Ukrainian colleagues just in time for the winter conditions that have arrived in the country this week.

As a bonus and thanks to the incredible donation of an entire vehicle. Funds were freed up to allow a minibus and boxes full of children’s toys and clothing to be donated to a Children's centre in the Dnipro region. The centre run by a church group offers support and education to around 40 children of all ages in the most difficult of circumstances.

We have learned through our close contact with them, that the centre is unfortunately located close to civilian power infrastructure. So regular air raid alarms and the constant threat of a missile strikes is something that has become an horrific part of daily life for the children. So regular are the sound of alarms and explosions, that the centre has lined the inside of their windows with used cardboard egg boxes in an attempt to provide the children with some peace.

The children’s centre had been desperately wanting a minibus for some time but had struggled to raise the required funds. So, it goes without saying that we were only too happy to be able to donate one to them. The bus will allow them to take the children into town, out for day trips and ultimately away from danger if required.

Although the war in Ukraine is now not seeing the same media attention is did at the beginning of the invasion. The horrors faced by the Ukrainian people continue on a daily basis. Earlier in the year a missile hit a residential apartment block not far from the children’s centre. The blast killed 46 people including 6 children, injured 80 and left 400 people homeless. These images were shared with us by one of the workers at the children’s centre and show the scene of the devastation.

Inclusive of the above consignments, Cops for Ukraine have now delivered eight separate loads of aid to Ukrainian Officers. This has only been possible due to the incredible support we have had from our colleagues here at Cheshire Constabulary, Police Federations, members of the public and suppliers! We are particularly appreciative of officers at Chester who took on the Chester Marathon to help raise funds and all those involved in the Cake Sales!

As many of the donations we have received have been physical donations it is difficult to put an exact figure on the value of the aid we have provided so far. However, we do believe it to be well in excess of our original £25,000 target!

It was a mammoth push to get these consignments out in time for the winter months, but we are determined to continue our support for the Ukrainian Police and we are certainly keen to do more to support the Childrens Centre – We already have some ideas of how to do this and we know with your support we will make them a success!

The story begins.

Their initial trip highlighted the need for a worthy humanitarian aid stream, it was then the seed was planted! Reflecting on the trip Jim founded Cops For Ukraine, he subsequently asked/persuaded Rob to join him on another crazy journey.

Their aim is to raise £25,000 by way of cash donations and equipment to support their fellow Police Officers and their families in Ukraine. They will do this by providing them with critical Humanitarian Aid and equipment.

On the 14 February 2022 Police Officers from the Ukrainian National Police were transferred to "Combat Alert" in response to the build-up of Russian Military on and close to the Russian border with Ukraine. Police officers, most with little or no military training overnight swapped their police uniform and duties to military fatigues taking up positions on the front line, defending their country, its democracy and their freedom.

How would you feel if this occurred to you on arrival at work for an early turn? far less glamorous than a scene guard or a constant watch!

(all these images are of Police Officers who have been redeployed)

With the invasion of Ukraine by Russia commencing on the 24 February 2022, many of these police officers became involved in what is now known as the “Kyiv Offensive”. Tragically many officers lost their lives in this brutal attack on their capital city.

We are looking to provide medical, logistical, communication and other appropriate equipment to give Police Officers who have been redeployed to this sometimes invisible and unpredictable front line the best possible support.

This support will help save the lives of Ukrainian Officers and give them the best chance of carrying out their duties efficiently and effectively.

The needs of the Ukrainian Officers and their families are rapidly evolving as the situation and weather conditions change. Initially we are looking to purchase items such as individual medical kits, trauma equipment, casevac methods and communication support equipment.

With the benefit of a solid, trusted point of contact in Ukraine we can ensure the aid reaches those that need it most.

Our point of contact is an amazing Police Officer who works with children that have been affected by the war and she and her colleagues work tirelessly to ensure the children have a normal as possible way of life.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is affecting each and everyone of us and will continue to do so for some time. We must show and provide support to those women & men that are doing the most incredible role.

The Cops for Ukraine team are working directly with an experienced Cheshire based Ukrainian Aid collection point. This organisation has successfully delivered tonnes of aid that has been donated by various agencies and communities. They have also secured and delivered many vehicles to various locations across Ukraine.

Working in partnership ensures that humanitarian aid and supplies can be purchased, transported, and directed swiftly and with integrity to the most appropriate end user.

All police officers know the sickening feeling you get when your colleagues press their emergency button or shout for assistance! You’ll race to help them. Unfortunately our colleagues in Ukraine have been in state zero for over a year now! Please help us to help them.

We value your amazing support in this a show of unity to our blue line colleagues on the front line and their families they have had to leave behind.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our vision and if you can donating to this very worthy cause.

Jim & Rob.

TEAMWORK 🇬🇧🇺🇦👮🏻‍♀️👮🏻‍♂️ The huge mound of (200) female care packages you see is the result of a fabulous collaboration between the amazing @heygirlsuk and lots of retired and serving Uk Police officers. The fabulous Sue & Archie raising money to purchase toiletry bags and lots of essential items to pop inside. The bags were then packed to bursting by some of the amazing donations from @heygirlsuk - still plenty more of that donation to distribute. Thank you very much for all of your support. You know who you are. 😀
