Story
Councillor Lubna Khan, with the support of Burnley Council’s Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Lian Pate:
We are asking you to support the Burnley and Padiham branch of the Royal British Legion so that they can take part in the Great Pilgrimage 90.
A decade after the end of WW1, veterans and war widows visited the battlefields of the Somme and Ypres before marching to the Menin Gate in Ypres on 8th August 1928.
In August 2018, two representatives from every branch of the Royal British Legion are invited to carry their standards along the same route representing an entire generation that served while defending their country.
The cost of participating in “GP90” is £1,000 per branch to cover all transport, food, accommodation and travel insurance costs.
Please join others in pledging a donation so that our local branch, which is made up of mainly elderly members, can take part in this important event.
Many thanks
Councillor Lubna Khan
