This funding will support a series of interactive creative workshops for adults, an exhibition of abstract paintings by Dora Williams and Liz Johnson's new work 'Credo' performed by Adam Römer (CBSO viola leader).
The works of artist Dora Williams and composer Liz Johnson explore a synergy between the two disciplines through the creative process. Time spent creating side by side in the studio has led to some unexpected outcomes for both the artist and the composer.
Migration and displacement are explored in Liz’s music ‘Colwall Requiem for Aleppo' which has influenced Dora’s painting, a connection deeply felt by Dora being a migrant herself.
Art can be a powerful productive force in sparking change or critical thinking. We believe the artist has responsibility to address contemporary social issues. Art is never created in a vacuum. It is important to understand the historical, cultural and social circumstances behind the creation and the creator.
