Weʼve raised £4,630 to help get Seb back to Cornwall with specialised rehabilitation and to support Bristol Children’s Hospital

Funded on Monday, 5th November 2018

    Story

Barnaby (9) and Benji (6) are cycling 17 miles around Rutland Water to raise money for their cousin Seb.

Seb has Medulloblastoma, a type of malignant brain tumour that is most commonly found in children for which he has had major surgery. After the tumour was successfully removed Seb, unfortunately, acquired a common, but severe, neurological condition called Posterior Fossa Syndrome. His condition meant he lost the ability to walk, talk and even swallow.

Seb has made amazing progress with the fabulous support of the neuro rehabilitation team at Bristol Children’s Hospital and is soon to be discharged home to Cornwall after over 4 months in hospital. He will need lots of ongoing rehabilitation to help his recovery and the money we raise will help fund this. We will also make a donation to the Bristol Childrens Hospital.

Abby, Rich and Seb have made it HOME! After 21 long, hard weeks, the family were discharged from Bristol on Sunday to Cornish care at home. And fantastic news is Seb has now been seen by his physios already to keep up the hard work of Bristol and get him moving again. Private sessions will work alongside the one NHS session a week to make sure Seb is getting the level needed for this type of brain injury. His next private session is this Saturday at a special paediatric neuro clinic in Helston so we will let you know how it goes! X

A message from Abby, Rich & Seb - We are completely overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of everyone. Getting Seb back on his feet, running round with his cousins is a core aim when his treatment is over. At the moment we are still stuck in Bristol due to side effects of his first chemo dose but we have arranged a provisional assessment with a neurophysio in Cornwall for our return. So thank you, you have given us hope and confidence that we will get our funny, kind happy little boy back after one of the toughest years of our lives Xx
