Story
Possibly the most important planning consultation in Kidlington's living memory is taking place during July and August.
Kidlington Development Watch needs to make sure the public know about Cherwell Council's latest proposals to destroy huge areas of the Green Belt to the North of Oxford. The villages of Begbroke, Yarnton and Kidlington, Gosford and Water Eaton would all but merge. Large sections of the gap separating Kidlington from Cutteslowe and N. Oxford will be built up. Traffic will be horrendous and infrastructure (already stretched to breaking point) totally overloaded
We need to tell everyone that the plans are not final. Developers will continue to push for more green belt surrounding Kidlington to be surrendered. Yet if enough people make their voices heard we can save our open spaces for posterity .
With your help we can fund the posters, leaflets and public meetings that our small group of dedicated volunteers will need to get the word out.

7 years agoA big thank you to all our supporters. With your help we've certainly got the public's attention. Being able to get posters, flyers and postcards printed professionally got our Campaign off to a flying start. We've all but completed leafleting the whole village. We were geared up to a short sharp campaign and would have met the original deadline. Now thoughts are turning to making best use of the hard won six week extension. We're going to need more funds ..... All your kind messages of support have been truly inspiring for everyone xxx

7 years agoJuly 17th: It's ALL GO at #Kidlington Development Watch ! Today is Day One of the 6 week consultation. Cherwell has published the documents. We are already busy working through them, shaping ideas for how best to Stop Oxford’s Sprawl. Thanks to your generous support we have crowd funded nearly £600 in just 10 days. Now we can plan a very ambitious publicity campaign to help raise awareness and galvanise local interest in the proposed changes to the Local Plan.

We should all work together to stop this appalling development. I have just heard that there are plans to build a station at the level crossing and to close Yarnton road/Sandy Lane.

The Green Belt was put in place for a very good purpose and the increasing pressure from developers makes the reasons for doing so even more important today than when it was first designated.

I fought a development (unsuccessfully) in Tackley. Hope you have better success. This proposal will impact us all, irrespective of whether we live in the areas at risk.
