Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this page.
Myself, friends and colleagues at Chesterfield Royal Hospital are running the 5k Colour Obstacle Run 8th July 2017 at Rother Valley Country to raise money to purchase cuddle cots for hospitals within Derbyshire and Yorkshire. Cuddle cots provide grieving parents with more time to spend with their angel.
A close friend recently lost her precious boy and she would like to raise money towards this cause.
A cuddle cot is a cooling system which keeps passed away baby's cold giving their grieving families the only extra time possible with their beautiful angel.
Dealing with the death of a baby is clearly an incredibly difficult event for parents and bereaved parents should be given the option of spending time with their baby. Providing families time through the use of the CuddleCot is internationally encouraged by midwives, bereavement practitioners, still birth/neonatal charities, and academics.
Time allows the family to form an important bond with their baby; whether changing a nappy, dressing the baby, taking photographs or simply just staying close and this unquestionably helps families in dealing with their loss. The problem is that in a warm room the baby’s condition can deteriorate quickly, therefore cooling the baby is absolutely essential. Transferring to and from the morgue is now widely regarded as an outdated practice as it is traumatic for parents to repeatedly go through the separation process whereas the CuddleCot allows the family to spend every moment with their baby, precious moments where every minute counts.
We don't want any families to not be able to spend this precious extra time with their angel baby and so please...donate anything you possibly can...every penny counts.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
Thank you

Raising money for Cuddle Cots
6 years agoApologies for the delay in updating you all. Collectively we rose £1285.72!!!! Well done everyone! The money has been donated to Chesterfield Royal Hospital Birth Centre. Following discussions with the matron, it was decided the money would be better placed towards renovating the bereavement room. I’ve asked for updates of the room so you can see the outcome once completed. Once again, thank you to everyone who donated and ran the 5k. Zena xxx
