    Story

    Mission Statement:

To provide a complementary therapy facility in Cumbria at charitable rates, for the health and welfare benefit of the public. Spearheaded by a comprehensive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy facility to operate at charitable rates for therapy not currently funded by the N.H.S. and ordinarily very costly in the private sector.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is the administration of pure oxygen, breathed through a mask or hood, at higher than atmospheric pressure. This is facilitated by, and delivered in a pressure chamber, also known as a barochamber, diving chamber or hyperbaric chamber. This facilitates far higher concentrations of oxygen in the bloodstream and subsequently, the tissues it feeds. HBOT and increased oxygenation up-regulates the natural repair and rebuild processes in the body simply by altering the environment. This leads to accelerated healing and healing where no previous healing has been observed, from a wide range of ailments. It is non-invasive and virtually risk free. Basically, any condition that can benefit from improved cellular respiration and greater oxygen saturation in tissues could benefit from HBOT or as it is also termed HBO2. Studies establish that HBOT can and does benefit most conditions relying on oxygenation for their recovery. These include but are not necessarily limited to the following: Accelerated healing (Including sports injury, wound healing and problematic wounds) Brain Injury (Including Acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, mild traumatic brain injury and concussion/sub concussion and birth injury) Circulatory and vascular complications (Including Compartment syndrome, burns and thermal injury and arterial insufficiencies including severe anaemia) Inflammatory conditions (Including Arthritis, Multiple sclerosis, trauma, post-surgical, depression) Toxicity (Including substance abuse, accidental poisoning, carbon monoxide poisoning) PTSD and Pain Syndromes Radiation injury Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Pre-conditioner for rapid recovery from surgery At Cumbria Hyperbaric We have a clear vision and a clear trajectory to achieve it and get to where we want to be. Our targets are realistic and will allow trouble free operation at least for the start-up years. Assets such as hyperbaric chambers don’t come cheap with our desired chamber currently priced somewhere between £400 000 and £500 000 depending on what we eventually decide on. First prize is a 20 seater, twin compartment, 6 A.T.A. chamber with all ancillary equipment. This will cost anything up to £500 000 with any additional funding set aside for operational running costs and project management as well as administrative expenses such as salaries, maintenance and insurance. Notwithstanding that we may need to be realistic as well and start small and build from there with a more affordable less grandiose approach. We would like to be able to operate for at least 3 years from opening even if we turn over very little in the way of income. This will allow us a good amount of time to become established and a familiar part of the community. Our ultimate goal is to remain completely funded by the community and charge nothing for our service. With the impact of Government measures on SME's, start-ups & small charitable efforts not yet out of the gates, (like ours), we have decided to downwardly revise our fund raising target and re-jig things a little to hopefully eventually provide at least some service. #HBOT #Cumbria #HBOTforCumbria.
