My self and my Wife Leanne are looking to raise £1,000.00 by Cycling from Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield to Hull royal hospital. Our Son Alex was born extremely premature at 24 weeks and 6 days weighing just 750 grams, this was a complete shock to us as we had no signs of a premature birth and previous to Alex coming early, the pregnancy was text book.

Due to being born so early, only so many hospitals in the country can look after these special babies. Alex was born in the morning at Pinderfields hospital by a fantastic team of midwives and doctors but by the afternoon he was being transferred by ambulance to Hulls Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

As you can imagine this was an extremely traumatic time for all of us. and by the time we had arrived at Hull the situation hadn't even began to sink in.

Alex would spend 108 days in Hospital before being released on oxygen at home.

Premature birth can happen to anyone but only a small amount of funding is allocated to care for these babies by the NHS. For this reason we would love to reach our target and give something back to the amazing team at Hull Royal.

It cost’s £1,500.00 to keep a baby in intensive care for 24 hours and every day is a fight when youre born early.

Alex is now 17 months old and is doing great, so we are looking to cycle the same journey alex made from Wakefield pinderfields hospital to Hull royal.

Our bike ride will be on saturday 21st of July 2018 starting at 8am.
