    Story

We're a community-led youth organisation based in south London and an 18-year-old boy who we work has been the victim of a horrendous acid attack by a stranger (along with his friend) that has left him blinded.

He is a refugee living in the UK alone and without any family to care for him. He's such a wonderful, upbeat and kind person, we want to give back to him. His injuries are life-changing and most likely permanent. We want to try and raise some money because we think that there will be a lot of things that he will need to be able to adapt to his current situation, as there will be costs that come from his disability.

The attack has been reported in the media. The attacker was a stranger to the victim and has not yet been identified. The attack occurred at 8.15am on 7 December 2020 at a busy crossing in Thornton Heath, near Croydon. If you have any information or were witness to the attack, please contact the Met police.

Wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to help this young man. We have raised an amazing £20,000. We will leave the fundraiser open for the time being, but please know this money will go to good use, helping alleviate the financial worries of this young person and helping him to access support and care in the longterm. We're so grateful to everyone who has opened their heart. Thank you! <3

We're absolutely blown away by the level of support in only the first 48 hours of crowdfunding. We decided to extend the fundraising campaign for those who still want to donate. All that we raise will go straight to the young man t help him deal with the consequences of his injury, without the worry of money. We're so thankful for the amazing kindness of everyone who has donated. Thank you, thank you, thank you! <3

Heart-breaking to hear about this. Hope you will recover soon and can lead a normal life. Hope the culprit is caught soon and brought to justice. Take care.

So shocked and saddened to hear this happened to a vulnerable young lad. I hope this can go a small way in helping him see the good in the UK.
