It's 3am and I'm cycling home from work; I pass a shivering man under a shop window on Horsham highstreet, huddled in a bundle of blankets with a head buried in the thickest book I've ever seen. I stop to offer some food to this poor, freezing man and end up having one of the most meaningful and heartbreaking conversations of my life. Daley, has been homeless since April 2017 and has been waiting for funding from the government to find a temporary home until he has enough money to afford to rent a house for himself and his three year old son. He passes the time until that day by reading and dreaming of days of happiness and love. In the space of two weeks, Daley lost his job and his wife and was forced onto the streets of Leatherhead where his sleeping bag was set on fire while he was asleep and received endless amounts of abuse that I can only hope none of you have experienced.

Nobody, no matter who they are, deserve this kind of treatment and constant fear; I hope to do everything I can to ensure Daley has a roof over his head until our government give him safe accommodation so he can rebuild his life. As a white, middle class woman who's lived a privileged life, I can't begin to imagine what it must be like to not have a warm, loving, safe home to go to at the end of the night.
