Damien Delahunty at Godiva Physiotherapy & Sports Injuries Clinic is helping to raise £7,000 and going to West Africa in September 2018 to help build the Primary School in Cotton Tree, Liberia.

To raise sponsorship, I will be doing a 30-minute loop-the-loop flight on July 14th 2018 at Wellesbourne Airfield, in an old acrobatic display aircraft (Yes….I am way out of my comfort zone, signature on the life assurance policy is still wet, not to mention underwear 😥😂!).

At the most basic level, we in the western world are fortunate enough to take for granted being able to send our children to a school where they will have ample resources and opportunity to flourish. In Liberia, the majority of young children do not even have a school, and if they do they will often not have a desk to sit at or a book to read.

£7,000 in total is being raised to fund 6 classrooms - for 180 children. The children and parents will help through making bricks and the school will be theirs from the ground up. Over the last 2 years the community has benefited from training for teachers, a water hand pump, latrines, and a 6-classroom secondary school completed. These final 6 classrooms for the primary school will mean that the school is fully able to sustain eduction provision into the future, helping the children and wider community for generations to come.

As a father and parent I see this project will help change the education provision for young girls and boys bringing hope and positive opportunities for their futures.
