    Story

In the small hours of the 15th of June 2017 robbers broke into St Peter and St Paul's Church in Watford Village, Northamptonshire. To gain entry they smashed one of the 1700s stained-glass windows. Then they wrecked the interior of the church in an act of vandalism before breaking into the vestry - and into the safe to steal the small amount of church silverware that had been donated to the church in 1720. Having robbed the church they then broke into the village hall and also a private house - where they were disturbed and chased-off.

This has come as a very bitter blow as a year last April thieves also stole the lead from the church roof causing £30,000 worth of damage.

Watford Village is a small rural community with only 82 houses in the Parish and we simply cant raise the required funds to replace the stained-glass window without extra help.

This is a genuine story and if you have any doubts it can be checked with either the Vicar: The Revd. Collingridge Tel. 01327 842204 or by the Police Officer at Daventry Police Station dealing with the case: PC14 Jo Russell Tel. 101 ext 347445

I'm no-one important. I just live in the village and am very angry that thieves have targeted our lovely little village church. If you happen to be passing through the village and see a chap on a little red tractor mower cutting the grass on the Village Green - Its Me !
