Weʼre raising £2,850 to help fund a dance floor for afternoon tea dances for Dementia sufferers, their carers and senior members of the community.

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
We have wanted to install a dance floor for some time now but have not really known how to go about it. This was a suggestion from two tearoom guests (coincidentally both in the Armed Forces). Thank you!
So, here we go.....
We want to organise Afternoon Tea dances in the Ballroom at Booth Mansion in Chester for Dementia sufferers and their partners/carers.
People with Dementia may forget a lot of the day to day things in life but their memory recall for activities such as singing and dancing often stay with them. In a musical environment they are more at ease and more likely to relax in what is otherwise an increasingly challenging and often very scary world.
My Dad (Greg) sadly passed away unexpectedly in 2016 from issues related to Dementia. He planned for many things for his retirement. Just not Dementia! As his memory faded in the last few years of his life one thing stayed with him and that was his memory of music and songs (especially the Army Rugby songs!). He loved to sing and dance.
We would like to create an opportunity for sufferers to do just that. To relax, have fun and reconnect with their partners in an environment that feels safe and familiar.
Booth Mansion is a Grade 1* Listed Building in the centre of Chester. The Ballroom at Booth Mansion was created in 1701 by George Booth, the Earl of Warrington.
it was reopened on 6th October 2016 (Greg’s Birthday) after being empty for 8-9 years. It has a Tearoom (in the Ballroom), an Art Gallery, retail, Artist Studios, and offices for small businesses.
The tearoom has captured the imaginations and support of the Cestrian Community and we believe this project will further add to its uniqueness in the City Centre.
The Building is managed by the Booth Foundation, a 'Not for Profit' set up to support the Arts in Chester and Cheshire.
Please help us get their 'toes tapping' and this particular dance started!
Thank you so much
