In October, I will be travelling to The Gambia to volunteer for Raise Gambia, a charity which seeks to enhance the teaching and learning of science in Gambian schools by promoting the use of practical experiments. I and 15 other A-Level biology, chemistry and physics students from Wiltshire will be part of a peer to peer teaching group who will teach scientific experiments to Gambian KS4 students.

I am deeply grateful for having been able to receive a high standard of education in Britain. I would like to give something back through this volunteering project to help and encourage less fortunate students in The Gambia. My key goal is to help to develop the work of the charity to encourage and inspire more Gambian students to choose scientific careers.

I will be raising money in a number of different ways through the coming months starting with the Neolithic Marathon. On Sunday, 27th May I will be walking 26 miles along the Sarsen Trail and I would be deeply grateful if you could support me to raise funds for this project.
