My name is Lauren, and I am fundraising on behalf of my younger brother Daniel. Daniel is a very fun, loving and bubbly boy, with an infectious smile. He is always guaranteed to make you laugh! Daniel Rackham is 21 years old who is Autistic with severe learning difficulties who needs full time care.

In 2015, Daniel suffered a major knee injury and due to his autism he could not understand his pain. Resulting to his injury, Daniel was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder. He was terrified to come down the stairs as he was afraid of hurting himself which led to him being so afraid of the outside world. Daniel stayed upstairs in his room, keeping the windows shut and curtains closed. He has trouble communicating so it is difficult expressing his feelings and this leads to severe melt downs, such as screaming, hyperventilating and hurting himself.

Within 2 years, we have created a new downstairs bedroom for Daniel which he is more comfortable in and he has now more access to other places. He still has a fear of staircases and will refuse to go up or down without assistance, however he refuses to use the staircase in his own home. Due to his anxiety, this limits adult services and social environments for him. Daniel spends most of his time at home with his family but he is desperately in need of somewhere he can feel safe. He still suffers with extreme meltdowns and anxiety. He is still very isolated in his own home as he doesn't have much space which creates a massive sensory overload!

My family and I are in desperate need to build a sensory room at our home, to create a happier environment where he can relax and feel more comfortable. Our target to provide the best sensory room we most possibly can is £8000. We would really appreciate all the help we can get, however big or small. I just want my brother Daniel to have a better quality of life and be happy.
