Happy Tots Playgroup are raising funds to help our colleague Rachel Stephenson with her son Daniel.

Unfortunately Daniel suffered a stroke in labour, resulting in severe brain damage, Cerebral Palsy and infantile spasms (a rare and very dangerous form of epilepsy). As you can imagine, this has been a big shock to the family and Daniel is currently on a range of aggressive treatments, some of which may have serious side effects. Daniel is severely delayed in his development and will require a lot of specialised help, equipment and assistance in his early years and beyond.

Bearing this in mind, Happy Tots Playgroup would like to arrange a fundraising event for Daniel in order to assist Rachel and the family with any specialised equipment that they think may be helpful to Daniel’s growth and development. This may include sensory toys to help with his muscles or vision, a walking aid or some soft play equipment for around the home to protect him during his seizures. As he is so young yet, they are not completely sure how badly he will be effected, but every day brings a new challenge and learning.

Happy Tots Playgroup always have a ‘fancy dress’ Easter Party at the end of term for the children. This term we are suggesting that the children dress up as a ‘superhero’ as Daniel is a little superhero in our eyes. Parents are welcome to donate at the playgroup or on our ’Just Giving’ page, allowing our past parents, friends of the playgroup and the Stephenson family to contribute aswell.
