    Story

    Beverley Rocks

Beverley Rocks started as a simple act of kindness: paint a rock with a colourful picture or inspirational message; on the back of the rock include a statement letting the finder of the rock know that it is a gift which they could keep or re-hide to pass along to another person -but asking the finder to post a photograph on the Beverley Rocks Facebook page. As the founder of Beverley Rocks I didn't have any understanding of the impact this simple idea would have on our community, but the idea that I brought home from a trip to Florida quickly caught on here in Yorkshire and within a few weeks had grown to over 20,000 members on Facebook with hundreds of families painting, hiding and hunting for painted rocks.

    Darcee-Ella

Through this amazing Beverley Rocks community we came across a young family for whom we felt compelled to try and help. Four year old Darcee-Ella Cawthorne was diagnosed with Late Infantile Battens Disease at the beginning of August. Battens is a life limiting illness and Darcee-Ella's life expectancy is between six and twelve years of age. To help make Darcee-Ella's short life as comfortable as possible, she will require a great deal of specialty equipment, including a customised wheelchair, hoist and sensory equipment, as she will soon lose her eyesight. This is only the beginning of the expenses to be faced, adding a huge financial burden on top of the devastating news that they will lose their precious daughter. Please buy a raffle ticket

Artists from our Beverley Rocks community and across East Yorkshire have come together to paint rocks for a raffle to help raise money for Darcee-Ella. All of the rocks donated are one-off originals and beautiful, with some of our donated rocks from acclaimed artists, such as Neil Halyard, Claire West, Jack Ashton-Booth and Chris Phillips, while others have been painted by undiscovered artists in our own community.

    Each ticket costs £5.

For every £5 donated, you will be allocated one raffle ticket.

Provide your email address as you donate via this page.

We will email you your raffle ticket number(s).

Tickets will also be on sale at the Beverley Food Festival on Sunday 01 October.

The raffle will be drawn on Saturday the 4th of November at Beverley Flemingate, and winners will be notified by email.

Everyone working on this project are volunteers and all funds raised will go directly to the benefit of Darcee-Ella Cawthorne.

    Thank you for your help!
