Weʼre raising £1,000 to support Charlie Wynn in his recovery from a boxing brain injury
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
With the permission of Charlie’s family I intend to raise funds to support Charlie in his time of need. As you may not be aware of Charlie’s plight I will endeavour to outline his current position.
Charlie is a licensed boxer by the British Boxing Board of Control, Charlie is a 29 year old self employed electrician who turned pro in 2016. Charlie won his first two pro fights and whilst in training for his third fight he suffered the injury during a six round sparring session in march.
He was taken to Kings College hospital for emergency lifesaving surgery, part of his scull had to be removed to relieve pressure on his brain. He was transferred to the Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability where he is reported to be making progress .
The rehabilitation centre is not funded by the NHS and therefore we need to raise funds so he can follow on with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy plus other requirements needed in his home.
Being a self-employed man the cash flow into his house hold ceased the day of his accident, but we are all aware that the bills keep coming in and the mortgage has to be paid.
It is my intention to organise a function in the spring of 2019 with the sole purpose of raising funds to help our injured boxer, in the meantime Charlie and his wife Alana need our help now is the time to act. Charlie ‘s words from the hospital "I want to get home and be able to walk"
EVERY LAST PENNY WILL GO TO CHARLIE THERE WILL BE NO HIDDEN EXPENSES
Please spread the word so that we reach as many people as possible.
Thank you on behalf of Charlie and his family
Yours in sport
