I am running in the Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday 8th October to raise funds for Sobell House, It has a team of specialist doctors, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, social workers, chaplains, support staff, and volunteers. They help deliver palliative care, specialist advice, and support to patients, their families and close friends, and to professional colleagues in the community, in hospital and in their purpose built hospice on the site of Churchill Hospital, Oxford.

I am taking on this challenge in memory of my father Bert who died earlier this summer aged 92. He spent the last 15 months of his life in a care home in Worcestershire. During that time I was struck by the care and affection that the staff showed to him and to my mother at all times. I know from the experience of friends that Sobell House offers similar support to people in the same position in the Oxford area.
