In July 2018 my daughter Hannah will be part of a group of Sacred Heart students who will be going to Sri Lanka to work within the community in the small rural village of Belihul Oya. I will out line the work we hope to do when we are out there which will help these rual communities have a better life and standard of living.

Goals:

Our poject aims to improve the educational facilities and curriculum meterials for local school children and in addition, providing better access to clean water the children of this village. I will be teach some classes, help refurbish and paint the local school and engage with the wider community. We hope this project will leave a significantly improved school and educational materials and a clean water supply for the children and the village as a whole.

Learning:

Whilst in Sri Lanka I hope to learn about the natural and human enviroment of Sri Lanka.

To work within the rual community to help enhance the lives if the local people.

To learn about the culture, religion and history of Sri Lanka and have a better understanding of different cultures.

To experience and learn about a range of bio-diversity and wildlife.

To experience living and working in an overseas enviroment.

I believe this is a very worth while project and I am passionate about helping improving the education and lives of students that don't have same oppotunities and quaility of lives as I do.
