    Story

Can you help Daylight Music return in 2022?

In September 2021 we were able to welcome you back to our series, a simple invitation for an afternoon together with music, tea and cake in London. An event for all ages, a first experience in music, a re-introduction or just the latest musical match-making. Our team was so proud that we could continue despite the ever-changing situation. We succeeded in presenting new music and new ideas in new welcoming spaces, whilst working through pandemic-related challenges. It was an absolute blast!

So why are we asking for your help again? We’d like to continue this year and beyond. Well, we need to raise money in advance for hiring the venue, bringing in a sound system with a van to transport it in and an experienced engineer, who will set it up and pack it down. Then there is all the hours and weeks of preparation the costs of design, media and website. We also want to make sure we can financially compensate our musicians for their time, transport, which cannot always come from the Pay-What-You-Can door entry.

Most importantly the unpredictability of audiences, and challenges such as omicron have set us back considerably with our initial plans for 2022. So, we start again and ask for help here alongside further funding applications. If we succeed, we’ll return around the end of March with a mini season which (with some help such as a further Arts Council grant) will continue to the end of the year. The path to securing the financial future of series is a difficult one, with many setbacks but one we’re going to give everything to make happen.

We know a lot of you haven’t returned to live music and we’d like to be there when you’re ready. We look forward to seeing you later this year with a mug of tea in one hand and a slice of cake in the other, we’d like this expedition into new music to continue with your help….

Our last two successful crowdfunders and our Arts Council funding allowed us to continue till now with our last event on Saturday 16 July. We now look ahead with some ambitious plans for our series from the Autumn 2022 till Summer 2023– these include new venues and events outside of London for the first time. For this we've launched a new crowdfunder alongside another funding application, a new membership scheme and our merchandise range. We need you! One of the great secrets to Daylight's success is our team of volunteers.
