We are seeking to embark on an exciting grounds project to create an outdoor learning environment to cater for every child. This will provide opportunities to develop their individual interests in an engaging and stimulating way, whilst promoting a lifelong participation in physical activity and sport to live life in all its fullness.

Our project aims to increase the accessible outdoor space to provide every child with the opportunity to play and engage in a variety of physical activities within the school curriculum and at other times during the day. The plan is twofold; to convert part of the playing field into an all-weather 200m running track with a multipurpose sports pitch inside, and to create an all-weather walkway around the perimeter of the field. As you will have seen, work on the walkway is already underway.

This is an ambitious project and, with the support of the PTFA, we have already sourced sufficient funding to complete the path. We are also fortunate enough to have received a grant of £58,325 from Sutton Coldfield Charities towards the work. However we still have a long way to go to raise enough funds to complete the project which will cost £128,000.

With this in mind, we would like to invite parents and friends of Deanery School to join staff who are planning to take part in this year’s Great Midlands Fun Run on Sunday 3 June and we would like to encourage pupils and family members to join us and run together to raise sponsorship for the track/multipurpose sports pitch.
