My name is Emeli Mumford. I‘m a singer songwriter aged 16 from Leeds. I have been singing for around 5 years and have been writing songs for about 2. That may not seem like to long but trust me I’ve had the best help with it and am loving it. I busk regularly in Leeds Trinity and Harrogate and attend Performance Drama School (I teach here to), DPTA Harrogate (Damien Poole Theatre Arts) and West Yorkshire Playhouse Youth Theatre. I’m especially interested in Musical Theatre as a career and as a hobby and hope to pursue it in the future. I also consider myself to be a very fun, caring person and LOVE working with children!

I‘ve been wanting to help a charity for a long time so I set up a fundraising record with Save the Children. At first it was just about busking to raise money but one day I wrote the beginnings of this song. I work with young children and know how talented they can be so I proceeded to write the full song with the aim to have it sung by children. It suddenly dawned on me that this was the perfect idea of a creative fundraiser. Combining all the things I love and doing good at the same time! Since then I have planned, improved, got extremely excited and worked to make this the best thing I’ve done and I’ve got until December 1st to perfect it with some much needed help. To make this project the best it can be I need to pay for a rehearsal space, recording studio, a music video and to have the backing recorded and at the moment it‘s all coming out of my busking money. I‘m asking for any sort of financial support to help fund this project. You could pay as little or as much as you want but any money left over and all revenue made from the release of the single in December goes to Save the Children to help their amazing work with children across the world.

My passion for children has been apparent since I was a child. I believe every child should be given the foundation for a great future and given as many oppurtunities as possible to achieve that. I’ve worked as a student dance teacher at Performance Drama School for about 2 years now and it’s the best job ever. Doing something you love and sharing it with young creative minds inspires me and I think children are children. Not one deserves to be left out or harmed and that‘s why I chose to help Save the Children.
