    Story

Village Life: A Community Project To Boost Wellbeing
The rural village of Bardwell in Suffolk has around 850 residents. It may be small but we have huge ambitions to turn a 4-acre meadow into a resource for the whole community.
Like many communities, we have a mixture of young and old, working and retired, active and housebound. So our aim is to create a place for the wellbeing and enjoyment of all. We’re planning allotments, a landscaped garden area, orchard, trim trail, sports field and a children’s playground.
We have an army of volunteers who give their time, expertise and energy for free. The commitment already shown is truly wonderful:
✓ Local farmers have ploughed the land
✓ Children have planted young trees around the perimeter
✓ Villagers have installed donated play equipment
✓ Engineers and trades people are helping plan water and electricity supplies
✓ Volunteers are using business expertise to make funding applications
✓ An award-winning Chelsea gardener has drawn up plans for the site, including a landscaped garden area
We want to make sure that people with limited mobility and life opportunities through physical/sensory impairments, or learning disabilities or mental health problems, can also enjoy the meadow. After a long career managing services for people with disabilities, I’m passionate about making sure everyone has the same opportunities. That is why I’m writing this appeal.
We are fortunate to have so many who give their time and energy for nothing. However, the pathways are our next priority and for that we need funding.
This is where this crowdfunding bid is so important.
The pathways must be in place before other work is started. We need about £12K for this work. Please help us with a donation. Your assistance will be much appreciated, as every penny will help make the project a reality.
I will post updates and more pictures so that those who make a donation can see what we have achieved.

    Thank you!

This morning had a walk around the meadow with some neighbours who are part of the project committee making decisions about next steps for some aspects of the project. Took the opportunity to take a quick pic of John and Sarah who have been instrumental in getting the play equipment in place posing in a rather 'Romeo and Juliet' moment on some of the equipment. People in this village work so hard giving their own time to benefit all of our residents! If you're reading this update and haven't been able to donate yet please think about!
