    Story

I am a Photography student in my 3rd year now and for the past 3 years as a photograher I documented the current situation of immigration in Europe, with a interest/focus on Romania, the country that I was born in. The photo-book that I am working on at the moment is called 'Wanderer' and it depicts my journey of becoming an immigrant, of having to move to a better country and of improving as a photographer. I am interested in how I changed as a person while 'travelling' this very strange road, how I started to look at my country after living in the United Kingdom and how my vision and perspective as an artist shaped into what it is today.

Now, this journey that I am presenting in my book is becoming everyone's, mainly because, at some point in our lives, we have to change something or we are forced to. In my case I was pushed to do it by my parents and also because I could not study photography in my country. People perceive art in different ways and in Romania it is not something that deserves enough interest.

To tell you more about my photo-book and its concept, the 'Wanderer' depicts a collection of memories by looking at the people around me (both in the United Kingdom and Romania) and those around others. I realized that there’s a constant mystery roaming around us and each one of us has a hidden aura which makes us special. We find ourselves in different encounters each day, we meet different people, we see lots of things going on around us, but do we stop to see them? This is what I did in ‘Wanderer’.

Furthermore, my initial purpose was to make people aware of the reasons of immigration, amongst other ideas that pushed me to do this. So far I have made the sequencing of the images for the book and I am currently writing on a piece of text to include on the last pages. I want people to look at the images first and then see what my idea for the book was. I made the sequencing for the book so that when people look from back to front at the images, there could still be found a narrative and a clear story. Although, the photographs in the book could make you think of lots of things that are going on there, I believe the whole image that the book is having is quite clear and somehow depicts the reality of life.

The money that I am trying to raise will go into helping me buy the necessary tools and paper to print and bind the book myself. This whole project started from a personal matter which helped me become more aware and understanding of what is happening in the world, at the moment. I have been trying lots of different binding styles lately and I am confident that this project will soon be alive.

I am a Photography student and I consider myself a Documentary photographer mainly because I am trying to depict delicate situations that people have to face each day, but also, I am focusing on making people aware of the fact that we are all humans.
