Weʼve raised £1,044 to be donated to the DGRI Children's Ward After all the care and support they gave to us during such a critical time for our family

    Story

After the most horrendous week of our lives with our 6 week old baby becoming ill and testing positive for RSV Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Bronchiolitis, we want to be able to give back to the amazing doctors, nurses and specialists in the Children's Ward at the DGRI Dumfries

To say this has been the hardest week for us would be an understatement
The doctor said she had a weeze and wanted lily to go into the Women's and Children's ward to be assessed and from there in in it all got worse. The nurses and doctors put her on oxygen, gave her saline drops, helped her with calpol and done swabs to test for various things. Her results came back and she had RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) that had then gone on to develop Bronchiolitis. She then started to get worse and was put on Opiflow - a special high flow humidified warmed oxygen system and put in an isolation room where staff, nurses and doctors all had to wear extra ppe before coming in to do their checks

Eventually on Monday morning when the specialist came in to see lily, she was put on a drip for fluids, not allowed to take any feeds or milk and was then placed on Cpap, a pressure support system. That's when we were told that if she didn't improve with this we would be taken to intensive care in Glasgow

Luckily for lily, through the hard work, help, support and quick thinking from the staff at the hospital, she started to improve and we didn't have to make that Dreadful trip!!

She is now back at home, after being able to do a full night without any help or oxygen but is still congested and has a really narky cough that we were told could still be there for 6-8 weeks and she could still get worse again

We are soo grateful for everything the staff done for Lily even though they are understaffed and over worked and every room in the children's ward was occupied, they managed to make Lily better and really took every care to make sure this happened.

💖 Absolutely any help would be appreciated 💖
