Disposable Perspectives is a photography project to return the narrative of the refugee crisis to those directly affected by it.

At the end of 2016, 15 disposable cameras were given out to people living in Paris’s newly opened Porte de la Chapelle camp. 8 were returned with various reasons for the 7 lost including police brutality, an issue totally underplayed in the press and experienced by people shockingly often. We asked each photographer to write a message with the camera to offer a personal commentary alongside the series.

The ones returned have been developed with exciting results and we are now working on exhibiting the photos. The model has been used effectively in both Calais (http://www.helprefugees.org.uk/news/refugee-info-bus-empowering-refugees-calais/) and with homeless people in London (http://cafeart.org.uk/photography-contest/) to give insight into otherwise poorly documented lives.

This exhibition is both to platform the views of those involved and a reminder that despite the Calais 'Jungle' clearance, help and aid is still very much required across Europe and the Middle East.

£200 has already been raised towards the project from an initial crowdfund in December - this covered the cameras and their development with a little to spare however more is needed to get the results to the audience they deserve.

We'd be so grateful for any help you could offer, the money raised will go on materials for the project (photo printing, posters and promotional flyers) and venue hire with any excess being donated to Help Refugees.
