Story
I'll be running 120 Kilometres over the period of time 25th April - 11th July (78 days) 5km for each of the 24 Nuclear tests.
This year is the 60th Anniversary of Operation Dominic where the detonations took place.
My girlfriend's Dad, Eric Barton alongside many other veterans were present on Christmas Island for the Nuclear tests. They witnessed 24 tests over a period of 78days between 25th April 1962 and 11th July 1962.
Every year Eric and his wife Janet travel to Weston-Super-Mare to meet up with some of the other surviving veterans and families for their reunion. All monies raised will help fund the costs of mini bus hire to transport the disabled and wheelchair users to the reunion.
I am doing this challenge for the Nuclear test veterans who are seeking awareness and recognition from the British Government. Britain is the only Nuclear country in the world who doesn't recognise their veterans. Even to this day the veterans, widows, children, grand children and so on are all suffering from many types of rare cancers, being born with all types of deformities along with many other illnesses all caused by the radiation from the tests.
This is were you lovely people come in, by sponsoring me. I will post an update with each of the 5km runs inline with the dates and name of each detonation of the Nuclear tests.
For information about all Nuclear testing around the world please take a look at the website - https://www.labrats.international/dominic60
Many thanks for your donations.
