Story
On September 18th the tiny Caribbean island of Dominica was completely devastated by Hurricane Maria, a Category 5 hurricane which tore through the island causing widespread island-wide devastation and loss of life. The island was still recovering from the devastating effects of major storm 'Erica' in 2015, adding to the suffering of its people.
The entire 72,000 population has suffered terribly, including my own immediate family members who reside on the island. We as a family are trying to raise as much money as we can to support the cause and meet the immediate needs of family members, friends and all those that require emergency assistance in the short term and beyond . Our initial aim is to purchase items such as: Medical supplies, Canned Dry Food, Bottled Water, Standby - Generators , Temp roof covering etc . The list is endless!!
Many of our close friends have expressed a desire to support this cause so we have created this giving page to enable you to do so in a most effective manner . The recovery of the island will be a long term thing but with your much needed support Dominica will stand on its own two feet again and rise to retain its title as the ' Nature Island of the Caribbean'
If you have not seen any of the footage on TV or social media, then I encourage you to click on the link showing footage of the the true extent of the damage caused. Aerial footage of damage
Below are a few images showing the extensive damage across the island highlighting flattened buildings, roofs completely blown away and infrastructure damage across the island. There is no clean water, electricity and a severe shortage of food on the island currently.
Thank you so much for your support Mike, Ken, Carol and Imani Sorhaindo

For those of you who know our family, you will be only too aware of the recent devastation of the island of Dominica by hurricane Maria on 18th Sep 2017. Dominica the small Caribbean island where we grew up as children and still have many family members living on the island.
