I am in my final year studying a Masters in Vocal Performance as a Tenor at the Royal College of Music. It was in 2015 that I embarked upon a dramatic career change and began my training as a singer. It has been an incredibly happy, fulfilling and challenging past two years as I work hard towards training to becoming a professional soloist on the international stage, guided every step of the way by those at the Royal College of Music.

Tuition fees have risen steeply since I began studying at the Royal College of Music, and even though I benefit from a generous scholarship this year I am left with a shortfall of £2600. As this is my final year of studies I am at the next stage of my career which involves applying for several young artists programmes and opera school programmes each of which require an application fee ranging from £100-£120. This adds up £560. This year I am therefore facing a shortfall of £3160.

With an extremely demanding schedule of classes, masterclasses and singing activities, it is impossible to maintain substantial paid work that wouldn’t severely impact my progression as a singer. I tutor french and singing, as well regular paid solo work. This pays for my living expenses and rent, which are both significant in such an expensive city as London.
