Hi everyone this is Brandon and a close family friend, he will be five in October. He lives in Grangemouth with his mum, dad and big sister. He looks like any other happy 5 year old but last year he was diagnosed with “Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy” which is a life limiting progressive muscle wasting genetic disease. As you can imagine it turned their lives upside down; the ability to walk is typically lost between the ages of 8-12 and the average life expectancy is 20’s. However, due to the increased standards of care we can try and prolong the progression of this horrendous disease.
I would like to ask for your help to purchase a specially adapted bike and a hydro tub. Studies suggest physiotherapy in association with hydrotherapy can improve his quality of daily living. The bike would allow Brandon to join his friends and be able to do what other five year olds do. These specialist bikes can cost around £1,100, the hydro tub around £3,000.
