I am going to do a tandem sky dive in Summer 2018 to raise money for a memorial bench for my sister-in-law Donna Newlands. Donna Newlands was an truly amazing woman who sadly lost her life on the 4th September 2017. Donna was sadly diagnosed with bowel cancer and despite a hard courageous fight the cancer spread.

Donna was loved by many. She was a loving Wife, Mother, daughter, Sister, daughter-in law and Sister-in-Law. She was an amazing aunt to my daughter Rebecca and was soon to become a Gran. Donna sadly did not get to meet her first Grandchild Oliver but the thought of him kept her positive on her journey battling cancer. Donna was very loved by her friends and all those who worked with Donna over the years. Donna was a talented chef, childminder and nursery teacher with Edinburgh Council.

A memorial bench would provide a place for Donna's family and friends to visit to pay remembrance to Donna. The memorial bench will be located in North Berwick, East Lothian which was a special place treasured by Donna and her family with lots of wonderful memories. Sadly Donna is not here to make more family memories, however, the bench will offer a place to create more family memories while never forgetting our beloved Donna Newlands.

I have chosen a skydive as it is completely pushing me beyond my limits. I do not like heights and the thought terrifies me. However, Donna was a truly inspirational person and I need to do something courageous in her memory!!!
