🏔The Mourne Wall Challenge in aid of #DoItForDonna

Huge Thanks to walk co-ordinator and local climber, Paul Watters. The Mourne Wall Challenge is an annual event which have kindly donated proceedings to the #DoItForDonna Campaign.

DoItForDonna Campaign details

"Donna was diagnosed with Motor Neurons Disease (MND) in March of last year, before this she was perfectly happy. In a short period of time, Donna has lost the ability to walk, talk and eat without assistance. We are in a race to find a cure, we hope to win this race.

MND is a terminal condition currently with no cure, it affects the brain and nerves. This disease gets progressively worse impacting; walking, speaking, swallowing and breathing along with other things. Amyotophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is the type of MND that is impacting Donna.

The DoItForDonnaCampagin aims to rase awareness, educate and fundraise with the goal of finding a life changing treatment or cure for Donna."

🗓 📍If you feel up to the challenge join the group on Saturday 18th June 2022 at 6am from Carrick Little car park.

🧗‍♂️The Mourne Wall Challenge is a long distance route in the Mourne Mountains which covers 22 miles and 15 mountains. This is a huge challenge! You will be hiking for 35km and ascend/descend 3,000m. It will take approximately 8 - 12 hours and you will need a very good level of fitness to complete this challenge.

If you don’t feel you can complete the full Mourne Wall Challenge there will be cut-off points on the route:

• Equestrian Centre Car Park at the foot of Slieve Muck

• Ott Car Park

• Meelmore Car Park

• Trassy Track

• Hares Gap

• Donard Park

• Bloody Bridge
