As Neighbourhood doulas we provide continuous support to women through pregnancy, birth and during postnatal time. We provide flexible practical and emotional support to new mothers facing hardship.

We often accompany women, who are homeless, have no access to public funds and are affected by various traumas. Women are referred to us by Midwifes, Social services and other agencies.

We need funds for basics for our mothers, such as nappies, clothes, items needed for the hospital, food for during the birth and going home, travel and other expenses associated with the care we provide.

We advocate for vulnerable women, we signpost them to agencies and services available to them. We provide much needed items for them and their babies. The women we help often have no recourse to public funds and have no income.

Profile of our last mother I., who gave birth to baby O. on 3.3.2017

She was a young pregnant woman far away from home, she was brought to us by a friend we also supported. She was living with nuns, she was rehoused to a temporary home in Woodford after birth.
She had no one to accompany her during birth and no one to care for her and baby afterwards. She is now living away from her networks, she had no recourse to public funds

We met with A. three times before birth, supplied baby and mum basics. We were with her during birth and welcomed baby O. into the world. We cared for them after, helped establish breastfeeding and we continue caring for her in her new home. We call her and provide support and items she needs.

PLEASE HELP US SUPPORT WOMEN DURING A VULNERABLE TIME IN THEIR LIVES.
