Story
We are running in the Stirling half Marathon to help raise money for Doune Ponds and Doune and Deanston Youth Project (DDYP)
Doune and Deanston Youth Project provides young people with a chance to learn and socialise with their peers in a friendly, safe environment. The Project runs two Youth Clubs and an After School Club from its base in Doune, alongside other projects and events. Doune and Deanston Youth Project relies on contributions from the local authority and charitable organisations to continue its vital role in the communities of Doune and Deanston.
Doune Ponds is a community managed 40 acre nature reserve where anyone can enjoy walking through the woods, appreciating the wildlife or spotting rare Fungai or enjoying a picnic overlooking the main pond while feeding the ducks and swans.
Many improvements have been made in the short time the Woodland Group have been responsible for site including the building of nearly 1000 metres of paths to enable wheelchair and mobility scooters much more access.
Doune ponds relies on volunteers and any contributions given goes towards special projects and further improvements as well as the general upkeep of the site.
