Story
I’ve this evening decided to run a marathon on Sunday (without training).
Why? A friend of mine has been living in Lombok (Indonesia) in the last few years. He recently spent a few weeks back in the UK, but travelled back to Lombok on the 30th of July.
On the day of his return a first earthquake hit the island which has since been followed by further severe earthquakes (of 7.0, 5.4 and 6.2 magnitude respectively), leading to the death of 259 to-date (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-45124972 ).
As well as having experience the terror himself, my friend has now joined the aid effort and has joined forces with others to take food and water to those most in need.

6 years agoReally humbled we've raised almost £3k already for the people in Lombok. I've developed pretty bad shin splints in my left leg this afternoon. Hoping it's not a stress fracture, but just some inflammation. Please do continue to share link to this page to push on in raising more funds.

6 years agoRun a marathon without training ✔️. Please feel free to share my Just Giving page on your social media channels. Did marathon in 4hrs 56. Very frustrating... Was on course for sub 4hrs 30 until the calves totally packed in with about 7km to go, making it almost impossible to run despite the engine still having much more to give (I may have thrown my water bottle on the tarmac in anger). Guessing that's why sensible people train for this kind of thing 😎. Also turns out Ashford is pretty hilly. Conditions where perfect though.
