    Story

    Running for Refugees.....

Zac is our running man, he not only spends any chance he gets volunteering down the DRS warehouse sorting aid (always with the biggest smile on his face) but he runs as well. He has taken up the challenge of running the Ramathon on the 3rd of June and would like to raise money for Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity.

He will also be joined by Yakoub who also is a regular volunteer with DRS and has also decided to run the half marathon.

Both Zac and Yakoub have both had a tough time and know more then most how important it is for groups like DRS to be operating and that every bit of money raised is used to help refugees and asylum seekers both here in Derby and through out Europe and other parts of the world

Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity (DRS) is a local grassroots movement working to provide aid and support to refugees.

Since we began in August 2015, in response to the increasing refugee crisis in Europe, we have been involved in several convoys to Calais, Dunkirk and Paris, delivering vital aid to refugees and volunteering in the camps. In addition, we have been involved in sending containers of aid directly to war torn country's and some of our members have been volunteering with the refugee crisis in Lesvos.

Zac, Yakoub and Steve ran the half marathon on Sunday, all with brilliant times, in the blistering heat and all to raise money for the wonderful cause that is Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity. PLUS it was Ramadan so no food or even a sip of water for Zak and Yakoub!! Zak and Yakoub know better than most what a help this organisation can be to refugees and asylum seekers, both at home and overseas. They have raised nearly £300 so fat which is brilliant!! Help us keep doing what we do and keep donating. X
