    Story

Dunkeld & Birnam Santa Day is an event that has been running for over 30 years and is completely funded by the kind generosity of the local businesses and residents. All the committee are volunteers and give up their time to organise this event every year. We have a parade that is led by Santa and The Cairngorm Reindeer which starts in the village of Birnam and goes over to Dunkeld. Santa then goes in to his grotto and sees 300 children. Each child is given a present from Santa, which has been kindly donated.

In the Cross in Dunkeld, around 30 stalls are situated which are local small businesses, selling their wares and local organisations, who are trying to raise funds. The charge for the stalls cover the rent cost. Our volunteers with collection buckets go round to try to raise funds to be able to put the event on the following year.

Throughout the year, we usually organise fundraising events to enable us to put on Santa Day. Many of our local businesses and local residents donate prizes for our fundraising events and we are extremely grateful for all the support we receive.

However, for the first time in over 30 years, we had to cancel Santa Day in 2020 due to Covid, and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to do the same in 2021. This also meant that for the second year running, we were unable to hold any fundraising events and we are aiming to make sure that we can organise Santa Day again in 2022. This has been a very trying time for everyone but we want to come back this year and make the event bigger and better than ever before!

We are looking to raise money to pay for the entertainment and the many outgoings we have to enable us to put the day on. This event brings a very large amount of people in to our villages, which is good for the local businesses and is just a fantastic day for everyone who attends. We would be very grateful if you could donate to help us bring Santa and the reindeer back to Dunkeld & Birnam in 2022!

Many thanks - Dunkeld & Birnam Events Group
