Hello My name is Elizabeth Hunter,

I have been given this fantastic opportunity within my company SPL International Ltd to travel to Uganda and help out the local people in conjunction with the charity Medcare.

Medcare is a charity dedicated to providing health and social care to thousands of sick, desperately poor ad disabled Ugandan children.

The main aim of going out there is to help out in Nolene's home, Noeline is a disabled Ugandan woman who cares for up to 35 abandoned or orphaned disabled children in Uganda. She has been looking after these children in a small home with only 4 rooms and a kitchen.

Money has been raised by Medcare (www.medcare.org.uk) to build a new home for these children which will house a minimum of 40 children and will provide much need space and facilities, once the home is built, a lot of work needs to be done to complete the new home

Tasks that we will be carrying out whilst out there could include the following:

- Helping painting and decorating the new home for disabled children.
- Constructing children's play equipment for outdoor play area.
- Assisting in manual digging over land for farming.
- Visiting the Wellsprings Children's Medical Centre.
- Visiting Villages and homes of poverty struck children.
- To attend the opening ceremony for Nolene's home for disabled children in memory of SPL's founder Phil Jones.

This is an amazing opportunity and life changing adventure, we are so lucky with the lives we live everyday in the UK. It is important that we remember this on a daily basis and give back and help out when we can.

The overall trip will cost £1500 per person, any donations you can make will be very much appreciated. This page is to raise money to help pay for some of the expenses for the volunteers to travel to Uganda. These expenses include flights, vaccinations, accommodation and antimalarial medication.
