Story
Beautiful Earls Barton is an historic village with a great sense of family and community - and today we need your help!
The village has a long and historic tradition. There is a record of Earls Barton in the Doomsday Book. Even before the Battle of Hastings a community existed in Earls Barton . The Tower of our Church was built around 970 AD by skilled craftsmen, and has been described as the ‘finest example of Saxon Ecclesiastical Architecture in the whole of Northern Europe’. Villagers are proud of the tower and many local businesses even use it in their promotional materials.
We need to look after our history!
Recently some damage has occurred through wear and tear to the Tower. Some of the rendering near to the Clock has come away and needs to be repaired- A job for skilled craftsmen - and to an exact formula. This iconic Grade 1 listed building needs highly specialised treatment. Over the years the village has come together to keep the Tower in the first class condition that it is in. The Friends of All Saints Earls Barton is an independent Charity Number1118769 has been formed to raise funds to enable such repairs to take place.
We have set the village a huge challenge and invite you to support our cause, aiming to raise £2000 in December 2017 and January 2018 with several events organised - starting this month with the barn dance.
This link enables locals and supporters from further away who may not be able to get to the events, to support our cause.
An exact sum required for the restoration is not yet known, and it may be considerably more! So please support this venture to protect the historic achievements of the past, and preserve the Tower for future generations. Your contributions and gifts will be greatly appreciated.
A huge thank you for reading this far and for your kind donation. We are very grateful indeed. Kindly donate and then share the link to the page with anyone you think may be able to help.
Best wishes on behalf of The Friends of All Saints Church.
