In Uganda over half the population do not have access to clean water - something that many of us take for granted. This poses a great challenge to young Ugandans, who are the main water carriers. Fetching water can take up to 2 hours per day in rural communities. We want to break down these barriers so young people have time to study, work and live their lives.

With your help, we will build a safe and sustainable water tank for the 1,350 students of Aligoi Primary School. We will build this 10,000 litre tank using plastic "ecobricks” – recycled plastic bottles filled with sand . This will capture rain water from the roof of the school, providing students with a water source for up to 20 years. The money raised will go towards the building of the well, as well as the on-going costs of maintenance. Our team in Uganda will also run water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) workshops with the students of the school, and create a local community group that will work to address WASH issues.

In return for your donation we will send photos and videos of the tank in action, and a personal message of thanks from us and the students of Aligoi Primary School.
