Story
Luke (aged 7) was diagnosed Christmas 2016 with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) which is a form of brain tumour. His family was told that he would have 9-12 months to live. Last April, the family were given a ray of hope about experimental treatment in Mexico which they just had to take. Luke has surpassed all the doctors expectations and is staying strong throughout the invasive treatment. However, Luke has been travelling to Mexico once every 5 weeks and this is costing the family a huge amount of money.
Luke is a nephew of one of our Active Schools Edinburgh Coordinators, Robert Ure and this is now close to our hearts and we are all following the journey the family are on.
The Edinburgh Active Schools Coordinators are going to complete 3 marathons in 3 hours which will include Swimming, Rowing and Running on Wednesday 28th March at the Commonwealth Pool.
We would appreciate your support by sponsoring us and alleviating some of the financial pressures of the family and creating awareness of DIPG in children. Please share with your family and friends and thank you for your support :-)
