    Story

Edvinas Jankevikius was just a normal 15 year old kid and he was a good school friend of my son and liked at school. Sadly he became disturbed and upset and he ran away from home on Saturday 29th April. He was found dead just a few days later close to his home - after a long search by all those that knew him from school, local families and the Police.

The whole community feels an ovewhelming sadness about what has happened - he was so young with his whole life ahead of him! Edvinas leaves behind a mother and a much younger brother as well. Sadly, at this time of grief we have to think of the practicalities. This hard working single parent family needs our help with some of the cost of a funeral and a little financial help in the hard months ahead when extra expense may need to be incurred.

We hope that if you have been touched by Edvinas's story, you will give a little to help.

I can now confirm that Edvinas has been taken home to Lithuania for a traditional family burial, which will take place on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May with one day of mourning and then a service and burial. This was extremely important the family and the funds you have donated have enabled his mother to say goodbye to her son with great dignity and adhering to important Lithuanian customs and tradition. You have all demonstrated great humanity to help this family devastated by grief. Thank you all so much for your care and kindness.

There is a very personal and deeply moving memorial to Edvinas at the spot where he was found and 100's have left flowers and personal messages including many of his school friends, teachers and parent's from Overton Grange school. It helped me to visit and it is a focus for grief as is this page. The family are extremely grateful for your kind words and your obvious care at this time of great sadness. Thank you all immensely.

I am the father of one of Edvinas' best friends. We have been so touched and saddened by this story we feel we simply must help. Edvinas was a regular visitor at many parent's homes and we can still hear his laughter, see his cheeky face and it breaks our hearts.
