We now want to continue supporting Skye, even though she's finished Proton she still has plenty of hospital appointments and days away from home when she is hospitalised due to infection. Since December Skye has spent no less than 18 days in hospital. All this time is away from her siblings, her possessions and the comfort of home. Ruth pays for Travelodge overnight stays 3 times a month to enable Skye to make hospital appointments on time, with major roadworks in Manchester if they don't set off the day before they can't get into Royal Manchester Chrildrens Hospital for early morning appointments without staying overnight in hotels.

Skye (4) was diagnosed with an inoperable Nasopharyngeal Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma, Skye's tumour is behind her nose, its eroding the bone in her skull. She needs Chemotherapy and Proton beam therapy although we've been told that Proton therapy isnt available in the UK, and they would need to take her to Jacksonville, Florida for that, the NHS will cover the cost of the flights, the accommodation, and the treatment, but obviously not living costs which will be around 10-12 weeks. Rhabdomyosarcoma is a type of soft tissue sarcoma (tumour). Fewer than 60 children are diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma in the UK each year. Skye's is behind her eye and nose and was only diagnosed because her parents noticed a turn in her eye and took her to their GP. It all spiraled from there
