After volunteering in Athens at a refugee camp with Pilipala and having the most amazing time I have decided to go back in April for 3 weeks. I would love to go with a donation for Project Elea who coordinate English lessons, sports and arts activities, provide clothing and legal support AND more (!) for adults and children who are displaced from their homes of many different countries.

Your donations will go towards the running costs of keeping the camp alive and the residents safe and happy whilst they are stuck months, even years on end without their families, friends and basic human rights.

When I visited in January with Pilipala we coordinated art workshops for children, yet everyone was involved! We worked on drawings (which will be made into tshirts and other items to raise money for more workshops!) paintings, paper mache hats, masks, instruments, wands and a giant paper mache shark... which lead a parade around the camp! The parade (and the making of) brought all of the different cultures together with lots of music, dancing and FUN! Life can be bleak in the camps which are mostly located far from anything in ports or industrial areas so moments like the workshops and parades are so so important!

When I go back in April/May I hope to help generally at the camp, facilitate some workshops, help set up a screen printing studio with Pilipala, plus find some other great projects to drop in on if I have time. I will be very busy...!
