This summer I will be spending 12 weeks in Sri Lanka with SLV global, an organisation found in 2010 that runs projects to help the local community while helping students and graduates interested in psychology to gain work experience while exploring different cultures. I am extremely excited to leave for Sri Lanka in May and share my skills with the other volunteers.

Throughout the 12 weeks I will be working with individuals who suffer from mental health issues, in particular trauma sufferers who have been affected by the civil-conflict and tsunami, in Sri Lanka. We will be running various activities such as yoga, music and creative therapy and also have the opportunity to attend workshops. During the first two weeks I will be completing training as a peer mentor meaning I will be responsible for supporting volunteers. I will be living with other volunteers in a homestay with a Sri Lanka family.

I have been working in bars during the Summer and am currently working in a restaurant to raise funds for this extremely valuable experience. Any donations made would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance!
