Story
We are currently fundraising to provide Neve with therapy and equipment to help her brain to heal and allow her to progress.
Neve has several very serious neurological conditions which cannot be cured or treated/ controlled with medication.
She has Microcephaly (small head) which means her brain is unable to grow properly.
Lennox- Gastaut Syndrome (LGS). This is a form of epilepsy which means she suffers from all types of seizures, most of which can't be controlled with medication. Neve currently has 100's of seizures each day.
Hypotonia means she has very weak muscle tone making it extremely hard to gain head control, sit, stand, walk, talk, or eat.
Finally Global Developmental Delay. Unsurprisingly all of the above have left Neve signicantly behind her peers in all areas of development.
As Neve's conditions are so severe we have started a new therapy programme through Family Hope Centre (FHC) which is based on the principles of neuroplasticity- enabling her brain to heal and grow. In September we paid £1000 for me (Liz) to go on the 3 day training course in functional neurology and parent teach re: therapy. From that we have started some of the aspects of therapy and nutrition with Neve & are already seeing the benefits.
In April Neve will meet the whole team who will put together a bespoke therapy programme for her. This will cover seeing and reading, hearing and understanding, sensation and tactility, locomotion and mobility & nutrition.
The programme is comprised of lots of different excercises which work on key reflexes, directly connected to different parts of her brain. The excercises are not difficult but need to be completed everyday, multiple times a day to be effective. We are very blessed that both Neve's schools are supporting us with the therapy, along with her physio, OT and SALT.
The cost of meeting the team in April is $5,650 (approximately £4,500).
Thank you for your help & support
Team Neve :-)

7 years agoThank you so so much to everyone who has donated to Neve's therapy! On March 24th we saw Neve's new neurologist who was horrified at how bad she was- confirming epileptic encephalopathy. We saw FHC 2,3,4 April where Neve was assessed and we were given her therapy programme. For the last 6 weeks she has been seizure free & her progress has been incredible! There are not enough characters for me to write everything on here but if you would like updates/ pics etc please email me at eliz1905@yahoo.co.uk. Thank you so much :-)
