In Scotland and in Renfrew education is very important and I am very lucky to receive a good education in a safe environment, this is not the case for all children though with children in Malawi often educated either in the open air or in buildings which are not safe.

Classrooms for Malawi was set up to change and improve these conditions and I am honoured to form part of the first ever group of pupils from Renfrew High to head to Malawi in June where I will be helping to renovate classrooms at Chigumukire Secondary School in the city of Blantyre. This will provide these children a safe environment and give them the best opportunity to learn. Something we take for granted.

Each of the ten pupils on the trip has been tasked with raising £2800 and there's been lots of fundraising events ongoing both withing the school and outside. The cost covers flights, accommodation and food. As well as visas, insurance and vaccinations. Anything you can donate to the cost of the trip would be very much appreciated and help ensure children in Malawi are educated in better surroundings.
